It is that time of the year for the CSA (Catholic Service Appeal) KICK OFF. We are asked this year to think about “WHO WE ARE” and “WHAT WE DO” to serve the Lord. You may answer “I go to church, I give to the weekly offering, and help out around the church when asked.” All of that is great and dandy, but we are also called to serve and love our fellow brother as ourselves with all our hearts, to make the sacrifice of self.
So, WHO ARE WE? We are part of the family of the Catholic Christians, one of the world’s largest charity organizations, sharing our time in servitude, sharing our talents to build up those around us, and sharing our treasures to support the many ministries of our Catholic church. We reach out to our Catholic and non-Catholic brothers and sisters throughout our own diocese. We welcome all who ask without judgment or hesitation.

CSA provides financial support to the vast ministries of the Diocese of Reno. This includes support to education of seminarians, Vincent de Paul soup kitchen, subsidies to poor and struggling parishes, Respect Life, alleviating hunger, technology and multimedia, Catholic Education at the parish and Diocese levels and community. The list goes on and on.
With your pledge and commitment to CSA, your tax deductible donation is spread out to all the ministries of the church. This is “WHAT WE DO,” and we do it well. Last year our goal for this little church in the wild woods of Lake Tahoe was $34,611.00 and, again, our parish surpassed the goal by $15,000. That $15,000 was sent back to us in rebate checks, which were used to help with our own ministries.
This year’s CSA 2015 goal is set at $42,074. Why you ask? Well, as it was explained to us at the conference, we are now supporting 4 seminarians, the Diocese has improved our multimedia communications, and we are playing catch up to the recession, to name a few reasons. A brochure with the CSA budget for 2015 is available online.
Located in the back of the church is an informational area, and you will find a CSA box with envelopes to pick up. Enclosed you will find a pamphlet that outlines our Bishop Calvo’s vision, the budget outline, a prayer card and finally, a pledge card.
There are several ways to donate:
Fill out your pledge card and drop it in the weekly offertory basket.
Us the CSA envelopes located in the pews and mail to the church.
Make a donation online.
Pledge by using the Reno Diocese app for iOS or Android.
Set up an automatic payment through your bank account or credit card.
Give a gift of stock and bonds.
Be sure to use the number on your pledge card if you have one, and BE SURE to name OUR LADY OF TAHOE as your parish.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Jan Roman-Gonzales, your CSA chairperson, anytime at
firstname.lastname@example.org or after the 8am/10am Masses. Also, here are some useful links:
Our sincere thanks to everyone who has and will support this wonderful opportunity to make the diocese of Reno more effective in proclaiming the word of the Lord as it reaches out to all who seek HIM. We wish you a happy and holy Lenten Season.
